Call for abstracts

Accepted presentations may include empirical research, theoretical explorations, and practice-based projects that integrate perspectives from across a range of sectors and stakeholders. We particularly encourage contributions that bridge disciplines, sectors, or communities, such as collaborative initiatives between researchers and practitioners, transdisciplinary methodologies, and community-engaged scholarship.

  • Submission deadline: 31 May 2025 by 23:59 (Malaysia Time, GMT+8:00)

    Contributions received after the deadline or without a valid registration may not be considered nor included in the book of abstracts.

  • Final selection and invitation to present at conference: 15 June 2025


Submission themes

Mobilising Higher Education for sustainable development within a ‘whole-system approach’. What are the roles of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in advancing the objectives of the Greening Education Partnership (GEP), across disciplines, sectors and education levels? Discuss opportunities and imperatives for inclusion of multiple viewpoints and marginalised voices in a new ‘whole-system approach’.

Exploring applied and collaborative strategies for integrating ecosystem restoration into academic programs and campus operations. What ethical and ontological perspectives are guiding this work (for example; indigenous, biocentric, post-human) and how can they help foster interconnectedness and responsibility?

Sharing innovative approaches and success stories from sustainable campus initiatives. How can good sustainability practices and quality standards in Higher Education be recognised, enhanced and mainstreamed?    

Explore the impact of government regulations, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and public-private partnerships on higher education's response to the climate crisis. What opportunities are being found for collaborative learning and transformation across sectors? What are the implications for green careers?

Analyse the role of vocational schools in preparing students for green jobs and advancing the green transformation in various sectors. Discuss strategies for integrating sustainability competencies into vocational training programs and teacher training.

Sharing inspiring case-studies and examples of student leadership in campus initiatives, collaborative action, and applied research for sustainability and climate action. What is the role and responsibility of students in greening higher education and how is this advancing learning and sustainability outcomes?


Submission guidelines

  • Abstract: Should be between 200-500 words. It must include: title of the work, names, affiliations, and contact details of authors, keywords (max. 6 words).

  • Language: Abstracts must be written in English.

  • File format: Submissions must be in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

  • Optional: Include figures, tables, appendices, citations, and references, if applicable.

  • Formatting: check abstract submission template

  • Anonymisation: Abstracts must be anonymised for peer review. Please ensure no identifying information is included in the abstract itself.

  • Ethical considerations: Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines for research involving human subjects.


Participation terms

  • Presentation formats: Accepted abstracts may be presented as oral or poster presentations, and proposals for workshops will also be considered.

  • Co-authorship: Authors may co-author multiple abstracts, but each abstract must be presented by a different co-author.

  • Abstract submission limit: Each registered participant is allowed to submit up to two abstracts for consideration.
